STATE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Individual applicants who provide an affirmative answer to any of the background questions should fax requested documentation to Danyetta Moore at (334) – 240-3282
Business entities who provide an affirmative answer to any of the background questions should fax requested documentation to Antwionne Dunklin at (334) – 240-3282.
Business entities must be registered with the Alabama Secretary of State. (Phone number is 334-242-5324, and web address is www.sos.state.al.us).
Business Entities: Business entities engaging in insurance activities must be licensed as a producer. Producer(s) designated on the Business Entity application are required to hold an active Alabama license. The Designated Producer(s) must hold the lines of authority requested on the Business Entity application. The application will be declined and fees not refunded, if the Designated Producer(s) is not licensed at the time of application. Please check our website to make sure Designated Producers are currently licensed.
Variable Life and Variable Annuities: Applicant applying for variable license must also include the Life LOA. CRD and FINRA review will be conducted by the state. Individual must submit copy of FINRA CRD report showing individual is registered for securities in Alabama.
Please note: There may be a variance of a day or two between the effective date communicated in the email response generated from our online application and the actual effective date assigned by the state of Alabama. The actual effective date will be submitted to the NIPR Producer Database and printed on your license. Resident Surplus Line Broker must submit Form AL—SLB-13 and proof of $50,000 bond purchase and send to:

State fees will be collected by NIPR (on behalf of AL) when a transaction is declined according to AL business rules. Transaction fees and processing fees will also apply. Violation of the following rules will result in a decline response.

Individual Producer and Service Representative licenses renew biennially by birth month and birth year
Individual and Business Entity Producer Licenses renew at the LOA level
Business Entity Producer renewal cycle begins on Oct 1 and ends on November 15 biennially—even years.
Business Entity Producer late renewal cycle begins Nov 16 and end Dec 31, biennially—even years.
Surplus Line Broker and Surplus Line Broker Agency renewal cycle begins on Oct 1st and ends on Dec 31st annually
Adjuster renewal cycle begins on Oct 1 and ends on Dec 31, biennially—odd years. Adjusters may late renew from Jan 1 to Feb 14.
Reinsurance Intermediary Manager must submit to AL: copy of a fidelity bond in the minimum amount of $100,000 with no deductible and which must have a discovery period of at least one year, errors & omissions liability policy with coverage limits in the minimum amount of one million dollars ($1,000,000), and a list of reinsurers to be represented, to include the reinsurer's name, NAIC number, state of domicile, and FEIN.
