STATE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

  1. Individual applicants who provide an affirmative answer to any of the background questions should fax requested documentation to Danyetta Moore at (334) – 240-3282

  2. Business entities who provide an affirmative answer to any of the background questions should fax requested documentation to Antwionne Dunklin at (334) – 240-3282. 

  3. Business entities must be registered with the Alabama Secretary of State. (Phone number is 334-242-5324, and web address is www.sos.state.al.us).

  4. Business Entities: Business entities engaging in insurance activities must be licensed as a producer. Producer(s) designated on the Business Entity application are required to hold an active Alabama license. The Designated Producer(s) must hold the lines of authority requested on the Business Entity application. The application will be declined and fees not refunded, if the Designated Producer(s) is not licensed at the time of application. Please check our website to make sure Designated Producers are currently licensed.

  5. Variable Life and Variable Annuities: Applicant applying for variable license must also include the Life LOA.  CRD and FINRA review will be conducted by the state. Individual must submit copy of FINRA CRD report showing individual is registered for securities in Alabama.

  6. Please note: There may be a variance of a day or two between the effective date communicated in the email response generated from our online application and the actual effective date assigned by the state of Alabama. The actual effective date will be submitted to the NIPR Producer Database and printed on your license. To verify the effective date, you may also visit the following website: http://www.aldoi.gov/LicenseeSearch/.

  7. PUBLIC ADJUSTERS: Public adjusters are not licensed or regulated by the Alabama Department of Insurance. The Alabama State Bar takes the position that negotiating (or adjusting) claims on behalf of an insured directly with the insurer constitutes the practice of law.

Resident Surplus Line Broker must submit Form AL—SLB-13 and proof of $50,000 bond purchase and send to:

* Service Representative, Title Insurance Agent, PreNeed Sales Agent, Temporary Producer and Managing General Agent license classes require an appointment before transacting business.

State fees will be collected by NIPR (on behalf of AL) when a transaction is declined according to AL business rules. Transaction fees and processing fees will also apply. Violation of the following rules will result in a decline response.
