STATE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

• Individual applicants who provide an affirmative answer to any of the background questions should fax requested documentation to Danyetta Moore at (334) 240-3282
• Business entities who provide an affirmative answer to any of the background questions should fax requested documentation to Antwionne Dunklin at (334) 240-3282
• Business Entities: Business Entities must be registered with the Alabama Secretary of State. Business Entity applicants will be contacted by the state if the registration is not in place; and fees will not be refunded. Producer(s) designated on the Business Entity application are required to hold an active Alabama license. The Designated Producer(s) must currently hold the lines of authority requested on the Business Entity application. The application will be declined and fees not refunded, if the Designated Producer(s) is not licensed at the time of application. Please check our website to make sure Designated Producers are currently licensed.
• Please note: There may be a variance of a day or two between the effective date communicated in the email response generated from our online application and the actual effective date assigned by the state of Alabama . The actual effective date will be submitted to the NIPR Producer Database and printed on your license. To verify the effective date, you may also visit the following website: http://www.aldoi.gov/LicenseeSearch/.
• Required Documentation for MGAs to be mailed to DOI is as follows:
  • Fidelity Bond – minimum $100,000.00 no deductible
  • Policy – minimum $1 million or 25% gross direct written premium, whichever is greater
  • Contract – Form AL-MGA-2

• NON-RESIDENT ADJUSTERS: Section 27-9-8, Code of Alabama 1975, requires every licensed adjuster to maintain an office in this state which is accessible to the public wherein you must keep the usual and customary records pertaining to transactions under your Alabama adjusters license.
  • It is the opinion of the Alabama Department of Insurance that this requirement can be met by a non-resident adjuster by making the necessary arrangements with someone in Alabama to store a copy of such records in a location in Alabama which is accessible to the public during normal business hours. Please provide your name and business address of the Alabama office by faxing to ALDOI 334-956-7916.
• PUBLIC ADJUSTERS: Public adjusters are not licensed or regulated by the Alabama Department of Insurance. The Alabama State Bar takes the position that negotiating (or adjusting) claims on behalf of an insured directly with the insurer constitutes the practice of law.
• Non-Resident Reciprocal Line of Authority – To be used only when applying for an initial non-resident producer license for a line of authority not used in your home state (such as legal services, dental services, or motor club) or for a line of authority you hold in your home state but not used in Alabama (such as travel, baggage, crop or surety).

State fees will be collected by NIPR (on behalf of AL ) when a transaction is declined according to AL business rules. Transaction fees and processing fees will also apply. Violation of the following rules will result in a decline response. Licensing fees are non-refundable.

• Individual applicants - Applicant must be 18 years old or older as determined from the applicant's Date of Birth.
• Business Entity applicants - Business entities must be a legal business type.
