• In order to qualify as an Iowa resident insurance producer, you must satisfy the following requirements:
• Be a resident of the state of Iowa;
• Be at least 18 years of age;
• Have not committed any act that is a grounds for denial under sub rule 191-10.19(4)
• Pass an examination in the line of authority sought; and
• Pay the appropriate insurance producer license fees

All non-renewed licensees can reinstate an expired license up to and including 12 months from the date of the license lapse by meeting the CE requirements and paying the renewal fees plus a late fee of $100.00 (for all authorities). If the license has been non-renewed for more than 12 months, it will be processed as a new application and the standard fee ($50 with no penalty fee) will apply. Licenses expire for individuals on the last day of the birth month, business entities on the last day of incorporation/formation month.

All licenses that have been cancelled, surrendered, or terminated for over 30 days need to apply as a new producer.
