STATE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- All Applicants: Only new non-resident applications
accepted electronically. Amendments to existing licensees and reinstatement
of license must be submitted to the Louisiana Department of Insurance.
Please DO NOT attempt to reinstate an inactive Non-Resident license using
this program. If you previously held a license in Louisiana and it is no
longer active, you must apply for your license using a paper application.
PLEASE NOTE: If you previously held a license in Louisiana, resident or
non-resident, and you chose to submit an electronic application, it will be
declined by the state and your fees will not be refunded.
- All Applicants: All Life, Health & Accident licenses
expire on April 30 every even numbered year regardless of the date of
issuance. All Property & Casualty licenses expire on April 30 every odd
numbered year regardless of the date of issuance.
- Business Entities: Please confirm through PDB that each
Designated/Responsible Producer does hold an active license in Louisiana. If
the Designated/Responsible Producers are not already licensed in Louisiana,
the business entity license application will be declined.
- Designated Producer(s) are required to hold a Louisiana
license (resident or NRL). The Designated Producer(s) must hold lines of
authority being requested by the Business Entity.
- Louisiana offers both combined and separate lines of authority for Life,
Health & Accident and Property & Casualty. DO NOT apply for both
combination and separate authorities.
- Applications that are pending by the state, for additional information or
requirements, will be declined by the state if no response is received from
the applicant within 30 days of application submittal.
State fees will be collected by NIPR (on behalf of LA) when a transaction is
declined according to LA business rules. Transaction fees and processing fees
will also apply. Violation of the following rules will result in a decline
response.
- Applicant must not have an inactive Resident
license in LA.
- Individual applicants - Applicant must be 18
years old or older as determined from the applicant’s Date of Birth.
