STATE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- Business Entities
- Question #23: The responsible individual must hold a Maine license.
Please name only one responsible individual.
- Question #24: Maine law requires a list of all affiliated producers,
state of domicile, and Maine license # (or SSN) be provided, in addition
to a list of owners, partners, officers and directors.
- Individual Applicants
- If applying for “Independent Producer” authority must also hold or
apply for Producer license for one of the following lines of authority:
Life, Life and Health, Health, Property, Property and Casualty,
Casualty, Variable Contracts, Personal Lines.
- Sole Proprietorship: Sole Proprietorships are not
licensed in Maine.
State Fees
- Individual:
- NonResident license fee is $70.00 when applying for any combination of
the following authorities: Life, Health, Property, Casualty, Variable
Contracts, Personal Lines.
- NonResident license fee is $150.00 when applying for the Independent
Producer authority.
- Application Fee is $15.00 per application.
- Business Entity
- NonResident license fee is $70.00 when applying for any combination of
the following authorities: Life, Health, Property, Casualty, Variable
Contracts, Personal Lines.
- Application Fee is $15.00 per application.
State fees will be collected by NIPR (on behalf of ME) when a transaction is
declined according to ME business rules. Transaction fees and processing fees
will also apply. Violation of the following rules will result in a decline
response.
- Applicant must not have an inactive Non Resident
license in ME.
- Applicant must not have an inactive Resident
license in ME.
- Non-Citizens who do not hold a U.S. Resident
license cannot apply electronically.
- Individual applicants - Applicant must be 18
years old or older as determined from the applicant’s Date of Birth.
- Individual
applicants - If applying for Independent Producer authority,
applicant must hold or apply for Producer license and one or more of ME’s
major lines of authority.
- Business
Entity applicants - Legal Business Type “Sole Proprietorship” not
accepted.
