Original Resident Application:
Applicants for a producer license must:
Be at least eighteen (18) years old
Reside in or maintain a place of business in Oregon
Complete all required pre-licensing education
Pass a license examination as required by statute
All continuing education certificates must be submitted to the DOI by fax or e-mail prior to the expiration of the license.
In addition, surplus lines producers must also be licensed for property and casualty.
In addition to holding a current license in the correct line of insurance, producers who wish to sell insurance must also be employed with or under contract to an authorized insurer or licensed business entity. Producers who are not employed with or under contract to an insurer or business entity retain their licenses but may not transact insurance.
In accordance with Oregon statutes and regulations, applicants must pass an examination to qualify for the licenses
Other requirements include:
Producer license application fee of $30, $45 license fee and $47.25 background check fee payable to the Department of Consumer and Business Services or DCBS.

Surplus lines applicants must also apply for property and casualty, if not already licensed for these LOAs.
Variable life applicants must be affiliated to an Oregon broker dealer.
Resident Renewal Application:
Electronic renewals are only available up to 75 days prior to renewal date.
All license classes must be renewed. No partial renewals allowed.
All yes, answers to background questions must have an explanation submitted to the DOI by fax or e-mail.
All continuing education certificates must be submitted to the DOI.
