Canadian citizens must submit a paper application. Retaliatory Fees apply.

State fees will be collected by NIPR (on behalf of VT) when a transaction is declined according to VT business rules. Transaction fees and processing fees will also apply. Violation of the following rules will result in a decline response.

Producer Licenses expire on a common expiration date of March 31 of the Odd year in Vermont. If you apply for a license now, you will pay the initial license fee and application fee for a license that expires March 31, odd year. You will also receive an invoice for the renewal fee once the license is issued. ALL applications received either electronic or paper at the Insurance Department AFTER March 15th, odd year will not be issued effective until April 2nd, odd year .

Individual applicants - Applicant must be 18 years old or older as determined from the applicant’s Date of Birth.
Non-Citizens of the U.S. who do not hold a U.S. Resident license cannot apply electronically.
Canadian applicants cannot apply electronically (with or without U.S. Resident license).
Residents of the Virgin Islands or Puerto Rico cannot apply electronically.
