STATE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- Variable Annuity LOA: If applying for a Non-Resident
License with a Variable Annuity line of authority, then applicants must also
apply for the Life line of authority.
State fees will NOT be collected by NIPR (on behalf of WV) when a transaction is declined according to WV business rules. Transaction fees and processing fees will also apply. Violation of the following rules will result in a decline response.
- Applicant must not have an inactive Non Resident
license in WV.
- Individual applicants - Applicant must be 18
years old or older as determined from the applicant’s Date of Birth.
- Individual
applicants - Applicant applying for Variable must also apply
for or have Life LOA in WV.
- Business
Entity applicants - At least one Designated Producer must hold an
active license in WV.
The applications for the Designated Producer's individual license and the business entity license cannot be applied for on the same date. The Designated Producer's individual license application must be submitted and processed BEFORE the business entity application. The individual producer licensing process generally takes between 3-5 business days. After the individual producer's licensing information appears in the Producer Database (PDB), the business entity application may be submitted.
- Individual Producer licenses expire May 31st, annually. Renewal notices are generally mailed to producers in March. Producers newly licensed between March 1st and May 31st will be automatically renewed for the next full license year.
- Business Entity license expire June 30th, annually. Renewal notices are generally mailed to producers in March.
Business entities newly licensed between March 1st and June 30th will be automatically renewed for the next full license year.
- West Virginia no longer prints or mails license cards. Licenses can be printed from the WVOIC website at www.wvinsurance.gov, ONLINE LICENSE PRINT. Check the website the next day after an application is submitted thru NIPR to search for the license.
Licenses for applicants with ""YES"" responses to any Background question will not appear until the WVOIC has received and reviewed the appropriate information concerning the ""YES"" response."
