BOARD WELCOMES
NEW MEMBER
KANSAS CITY,
Mo. (Feb. 21, 2008) — The National Insurance
Producer Registry (NIPR) is pleased to announce the appointment of
its newest board member, Tennesee Insurance Commisisoner Leslie
Newman. Newman represents the National Association of Insurance
Commissioners (NAIC) on the NIPR board of directors.
"Commissioner Newman's knowledge and experience is a valuable
addition to the board," said NIPR Executive Director Maryellen
Waggoner. "We welcome her insight as we continue to work to
streamline and re-engineer the producer licensing process."
Newman was appointed commissioner of the Tennessee Department of
Commerce and Insurance in January 2007. A graduate of the Washington
University School of Law, Newman has more than 20 years of
experience in public and private practice. Newman has worked as an
attorney with Municipal Technical Advisory Service (MTAS) of the
University of Tennessee, Institute for Public Service; served with
the Metropolitan Nashville Department of Law as associate
metropolitan attorney; and worked in private practice, focusing on
land use, zoning, urban and municipal law, and government relations.
