NIPR ENDS SUCCESSFUL YEAR
WITH PRICE REDUCTION

HOUSTON (Dec. 3, 2007) — The National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR) board of directors is pleased to announce its third price reduction in the past 12 months.

A 15% price reduction for non-resident insurance licenses was approved yesterday during the NIPR's board meeting at the Winter National Meeting of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). The reduction will take effect July 1, 2008, and will save the industry approximately $300,000 annually.

“This move confirms that NIPR and the NAIC are committed to delivering affordable, accessible, one-stop shopping solutions to producers and companies,” said NIPR Executive Director Maryellen Waggoner. “The price reductions approved over the past 12 months represent close to $3 million saved by the industry that can be passed along to insurance consumers.”

Non-resident insurance license fees were reduced an additional 15% in July 2007. The latest reduction will bring the transaction fee for non-resident insurance licenses to just $6.18. When this product was first introduced in 2002, the fee was $10, plus 3.5% for credit card fees on both the NIPR fee and the state licensing fee. The NIPR now absorbs all credit card fees.

In addition, the cost to process appointments and terminations and conduct Producer Database look-ups will drop five cents beginning Jan. 1, 2008.
