Business Rules

  • Check Your Application Status:  https://www.insurance.ca.gov/0200-industry/0038-CLASS/
    Whether you submitted your license applications to CDI online through NIPR.com, Sircon.com, or by paper through the mail, CLASS will enable you to check the status of your license applications.  

  • There must be no serious RIRS action or 1033 actions for the applicant since last renewal.

  • Licensees must hold an active renewable license in California.

  • Licensees can renew their license through Resident License Renewal application up to license expiration date. After expiration date, applicant must reinstate by visiting https://www.sircon.com/. Applicant may reapply one (1) year after expiration date through Resident Licensing application through NIPR.

  • Insurance Producer with Life line of authority must be actively held in order to renew Variable Life and Variable Annuity  or renew simultaneously.

  • Both Life and Accident & Health or Sickness lines must be renewed at the same time.  Partial renewal for the lines is not allowed. 

  • Both Property and Casualty  lines must be renewed at the same time.  Partial renewal for the lines is not allowed.

  • An active Life license is required to renew Brokering Life Settlement line of authority.

  • All Variable Life and Variable Annuity renewal applicants must provide FINRA CRD number.

  • Property and Casualty may not hold Personal Lines line of authority.

  • Applicants renewing Surplus Lines Broker or Special Lines SL Broker lines of authority (LOAs) must have an active renewable Property  and Casualty  lines of authority in order for California to process the application.

  • All individual applicants applying for a California license should disregard the 'Agency or Business Entity Affiliations' page within the uniform application.

  • California licensees must complete and submit their own renewal application. As stated in Section 1652(a) of the California Insurance Code, licensees must declare, under penalty of perjury, that the contents of the renewal are true and correct.

  • Criminal Convictions: For the purposes of the California application, if "convicted" or found guilty by verdict of a judge or jury; and/or ever entered a plea of guilty, nolo contendre or no contest. Applicant must disclose all convictions, even if the charges were later dismissed or expunged, the guilty plea was withdrawn pursuant to Penal Code Section 1203.4, or applicant was placed on probation, received a suspended sentence or just ordered to pay a fine.

  • Driving Under the Influence: Disclose all driving related misdemeanors including, but not limited to, driving under the influence, reckless driving, driving without a valid license, or driving with a suspended or revoked license. Failure to disclose all convictions may result in a denied application. Exclude juvenile offenses tried in juvenile court.

  • All individual applicants applying for a California license should disregard the 'Agency or Business Entity Affiliations' page within the uniform application.

  • If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail at California Department of Insurance, 320 Capitol Mall, Sacramento, CA 95814, email at sac.renewals@insurance.ca.gov, or fax at (916) 327-6907.

  • Independent Adjuster Requirements:
    • At least one active Qualified Manager(QM) is required to renew the license.  If the system indicates that there are no Qualified Managers (QM) associated with your license after submission, please submit required documents for each QM through the Additional Licensing Documents attachments warehouse, then contact the California Department of Insurance (CDI) at cdidocuments@insurance.ca.gov.  Required Documents include:
    • Copy of Personal Identification Info Form LIC 31A-9: https://www.insurance.ca.gov/0200-industry/0050-renew-license/0200-requirements/upload/LIC31a9AJPersonalID.pdf
      • Two passport sized photographs taken within the last six months.  JPG image is preferred.
      • Owners, Officers, Partners, and Directors may also request a Pocket ID card by submitting the above requirements to the state.
    • If you receive a decline response with the reason “PIN License Renewal Fee is incorrect.”  DO NOT resubmit the license renewal. The fees have been collected. Please contact the California Department of Insurance at cdilicensing@insurance.ca.gov.
    • Must not hold any other Adjuster licenses.

 

  • Public Adjuster Requirements:
    • Must not hold any other Adjuster licenses.

  • Crop Adjuster Requirements:

    • Must not hold any other Adjuster licenses.

Licensees can renew their license through Resident License Renewal application up to license expiration date. After expiration date, applicant must reinstate by visiting https://www.sircon.com/. Renewal Period: Ninety (90) days prior to expiration date -  License expiration date.

Late Renewal Period: N/A

NIPR does not verify compliance with the states CE requirement prior to allowing submission of a renewal application, however compliance is required prior to the states approval of the request. You may select your resident state on the following link: Verify My CE to view your CE transcript and determine whether the state has updated your status to compliant in their system and on what date.  It generally takes up to 72 hours from the compliance date for the status to be updated in our system.

  • Clearance Letter: If another state requires that the licensee provide a letter of clearance, in California the licensee can submit a clearance letter request that will cancel the license when the clearance letter is issued.
