  • Fees shown are state fees only. These fees do not include NIPR transaction fees.
  • All fees are charged per application.
  • Iowa does not have a grace period on license renewals. License reinstatements can be processed for up to twelve (12) months past the license expiration date by reapplying through NIPR’s electronic Non-Resident Renewal (NRR) process and paying a late fee.

Applicant Can

  • Submit renewals for major lines of authority.

  • Late renew through NIPR's Non-Resident Renewals (NRR) Application.
  • Late renew up to one year beyond expiration through NIPR's Non-Resident Renewals (NRR) Application.
  • Print Licenses Electronically.

Business Rules

  • Applicant's name, birth date, license number, state of residence, Tax ID, and National Producer Number (NPN) must match current Producer Database (PDB) record for resident state.

  • P.O. Boxes are only allowed for mailing addresses.

  • Applicant must provide a valid country code and business email.

  • Applicant may not renew a license in their own resident state.

  • Applicant expired greater than one year with an inactive status must reinstate or reapply through NIPR's Non-Resident License (NRL) Application.

  • There must be no serious:

  • Regulatory Information Retrieval System (RIRS) actions for the applicant since last renewal.

  • 1033 actions for the applicant since last renewal.

  • If so, please contact the state for assistance.

  • If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.

All Licenses Classes except Surplus Lines

Renewal Period: Ninety (90) days prior to expiration date - Triennially on last day of birth month.

Late Renewal Period: Applicant can late renew up to one year beyond expiration through NIPR's Non-Resident Renewals (NRR) Application.

Surplus Lines Producer

Renewal Period: Ninety (90) days prior to expiration date - Triennially on last day of birth month.

Renewal Period Ends: Expiration date

Resident state changes cannot be done online. Please contact the Iowa Insurance Division, Producer Licensing for the procedure. Phone #515-654-6600 or email producer.licensing@iid.iowa.gov.
