Business Rules

  • Applicant must be eighteen (18) years old or older as determined from the applicant's date of birth.

  • Automobile, Personal Lines and/or Commercial Lines Adjuster authorities are included with the active Comprehensive Property & Casualty line.

  • Applicants for public adjuster authority must submit an original surety bond to the Louisiana Department of Insurance. The bond form is available on the Louisiana DOI website. Note that each notarized signature requires two witnesses. The notary cannot be a witness. Incomplete bonds will not be processed and will not be returned.
  • Upon license issuance and renewal, all Claims Adjusters licensed in Louisiana are required to read and acknowledge the claims adjuster standards of conduct provided in La. R.S. 22:1674.1 Your acknowledgement will be captured in a Louisiana state-specific question in the initial and renewal application submission.   • DO NOT SUBMIT AN APPLICATION UNLESS ALL SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION FOR ANY DISCLOSURES IS ON HAND AND READY TO SUBMIT. If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions, supporting documents should be submitted electronically via NIPR's Attachment Warehouse. All supporting documents must be uploaded to the Attachment Warehouse prior to but no later than the date of application submission to be considered timely disclosed. APPLICATIONS WITH "YES" ANSWERS WITHOUT COMPLETE SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION PROVIDED AS OF THE DATE OF APPLICATION ARE SUBJECT TO BEING CLOSED AS INCOMPLETE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE.  YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO REAPPLY.

  • Supporting documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.  If the applicant chooses to submit via mail, e-mail or fax, the documents must be submitted to the Louisiana Department of Insurance that same day as the license application and must include the transaction number and the applicant's name. Documentation submitted via mail must be postmarked within 24 hours of application submission.

  • Adjuster Designated Home State (ADHS) Rules:
    • In order for an applicant to designate a home state during the application process, the applicant must have an active non-resident adjuster license on the Producer Database (PDB) and no active resident adjuster license.
    • If designated home state license is inactive at the time of renewal and no active resident adjuster license exists, applicant may select another state with an active adjuster license as the designated home state. Application will defer to state for review. Should this be here if this section is about initial licensing?
    • If applicant holds only a non-resident adjuster license in a state that licenses resident adjusters, applicant is permitted to designate an active non-resident adjuster license as their home state license. Application will defer to state for review.
