Primary Rules (Individual)

License Printing

Business Rules (Individual)

Applicant must be at least eighteen (18) years old or older as determined from the applicant's date of birth.

Applicant's name, birth date, license number, state of residence, Tax ID, and National Producer Number (NPN) must match current Producer Database (PDB) record for resident state.

Applicant may not use a P.O. Box in the business or residence addresses.

Applicant may not apply for a license in their own resident state.

Applicant must not have a status of suspended, revoked, or tax compliance.

Applicant applying for variable contracts Line of Authority (LOA) must also apply for or have life Line of Authority (LOA) at the same time.

Applicants applying for surplus lines must hold an active non-resident license in Missouri with producer license class and property and casualty LOAs.

Producer applicants will be allowed to late-renew license electronically for up to one year past license expiration date. After one year the applicant may reinstate through the initial licensing application.

Surplus lines applicant can reapply for their license starting the day after the expiration date. Note: exam requirements and all initial licensing requirements apply for surplus lines reinstatement transactions.

If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents are stated as follows and may be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax:

  • A written statement summarizing the details of each incident.
  • A copy of the petition, complaint or other document that commenced the lawsuit, arbitration, or mediation proceedings.
  • A copy of the official document, which demonstrates the resolution of the charges or any final judgment.

Missouri application fees are non-refundable. Avoid these common errors, which result in non-refundable payment of fees.

  • Applicant marked the incorrect line of authority when completing the application.
  • Applicant applied for an agency license that was already held by the agency.
  • Applicant completed two (2) identical applications.
  • Applicant applied for a license they are not required to hold.
  • Applicant applied for a license they were not qualified to hold.

Business Rules (Business Entity)

Applicant's name, Tax ID, license number, and state of residence must match current Producer Database (PDB) record for resident state.

Applicant may not apply for a license in their own resident state.

Business Entity Producer applicants will be allowed to late-renew their license electronically for up to one year past license expiration date. After one year the applicant may reinstate through the initial licensing application (Excludes applicants with a status reason of Voluntary Surrender).

Applicant must not have a status of suspended, revoked, or tax compliance.

At least one (1) Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP) must have an active resident or non-resident license in Missouri.

If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The following documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax:
