Applicant Can

  • Submit adjuster for individuals electronically.
  • Submit adjuster for business entities electronically.
  • Reinstate a license electronically.
  • Add lines of authority to an existing active license electronically.
  • Print licenses electronically.

Applicant Cannot

  • Submit adjuster for business entities electronically.
  • Submit Adjuster Designated Home State (ADHS) electronically.

Business Rules

  • Applicant must be eighteen (18) years old or older as determined from the applicant's date of birth.

  • The appointing insurer shall file within fifteen (15) days from the date the agency contract is executed, or the first insurance application is submitted.

  • Applicant must not have an active resident license in the application state.

  • Applicant must not already have an equivalent active license for the requested LOA(s) in the requested NR state

  • Public Adjusters can reapply through NRL one year has passed since their expiration date.  From the expiration date one year after the expiration date the applicant will late renew through NRAR.

  • Applicant must be 18 years old or older.

  • Applicants who are non-citizens must provide two forms of identification and immigration status. Please email documentation to ce.agent.licensing@tn.gov.

  • Entities reapplying must not have any of the following status reasons:
    • Revoked (PDB code 12)
    • Suspended (PDB code 11)
    • Never Relicense (PDB code 2550)
    • Denial – Orig. Lic. Denied for Cause (PDB code 2549)
    • Disciplinary Term (PDB code 68)

  • Entities may request a name change by submitting a signed and dated request on the business entities letterhead directly to the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance.  The request must include the entities current name, new name, Tennessee license number and any legal documentation supporting the request.

  • Entities may submit a request to update information by submitting a signed and dated request directly to the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance. The request must include the entity name, Tennessee license number, and full name of individual/entity to be added or removed.

  • Entities may submit a request to update information by submitting a signed and dated request directly to the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance. The request must include the entity name, Tennessee license number, and full name and Tennessee license number of individual to be added or removed.

  • Licensees attempting to change residency status from resident to nonresident or nonresident to resident must contact the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance directly for assistance.
