Applicant Can

  • Submit Adjuster for individuals electronically.
  • Submit Adjuster for business entities electronically.
  • Submit Adjuster Designated Home State (ADHS) electronically.

Business Rules

  • Vermont cannot be used as a Designated Home State.

  • Property and Casualty LOAs must be renewed simultaneously when applicable.

  • Please allow up to 10 business days to process the application. If your application was accepted, please visit the Vermont website at https://dfr.vermont.gov/industry/insurance/producer-and-individual-licensing and choose Check the Status of a License. You will be able to print documentation containing the status of your license.

  • Reinstatements for adjuster licenses are not allowed. If the license is expired the applicant must reapply through NIPR's Non-Resident Adjuster Licensing (NRAL) Application.

  • Renewable license will no longer be available past the expiration date.

  • Adjusters renew every even year.

  • Vermont processes renewals on a two-year cycle, in each even numbered year. Applicant applying after March 31st (even years) will not have the full two (2) years until their next renewal.

  • Example 1: If an applicant applied on January 31st, 2016, their license would expire three months later, on March 31st, 2018. The applicant would need to renew at that time to remain active.

  • Example 2: If an applicant applied on June 30th, 2016, they would have their license for twenty-one (21) months before it expired on March 31st, 2018. The applicant would need to renew at that time to remain active.

Currently, they send the changes into the Department. It can be done via email to dfr.producerlicensing@vermont.gov or fax to 802-828-1633.

Changes to Owner’s Partners Officers and Directors do not need to be reported to the state.

They would send the request in as a voluntary surrender of license, must be signed and dated by the individual licensee. They can scan and email attachment, fax, or send regular mail to: Attn: Producer Licensing, Department of Financial Regulation, 89 Main Street, Montpelier, VT 05602-3101.
