Appointments must be done within fifteen days of signing of the agency contract or the first insurance application is submitted.
Other Requirements

No Business Entity can have a Surplus Lines license - individuals only.

Other Requirements
 

Re-instatement applications on the NAIC Uniform application plus re-instatement fee of $50.00. (Paper applications are only accepted for those applicant's previously licensed in SD as the systems are blocking re-instatement applications. This is caused by the different fee needed. As soon as this blockage is cleared up all applications will need to be submitted electronically.)

Surplus Lines Licensing
 

Electronic submission of initial application. For additional information on surplus lines licensing, visit the South Dakota web site at (http://www.state.sd.us/drr2/reg/insurance)

 

No bond required for non-resident surplus lines applicants.

 

Must hold a non-resident producer license for property/casualty.
