Applicant Can

Business Rules

  • Applicant must be 18 years old or older as determined from the applicant’s Date of Birth.
     
  • All Variable Life and Variable Annuity applicants must hold an active Insurance Producer with Life line of authority or be applying for a Life line of authority at the same time.
     
  • Applicants for Life Settlement Broker or Life Settlement Provider must have active Insurance Producer License with Life line of authority.
     
  • Bail Bond Agent applicants must provide proof of fingerprints. Applicants will need to contact the state for instructions at agent@doi.idaho.gov. The application will not be completed until a return is received from the FBI.
     
  • Bail Bond Agent applicants must visit the following link  and submit original bond in the amount of $15,000 and the COMPLETED AND SIGNED appointment form to: Idaho Dept of Insurance, P.O. Box 83720, Boise ID, 83720-0043.
     
  • Applicants for all license types will be allowed to late renew for up to one year past license expiration date. The status reason will be Expired. After one year past the expiration date, applicants will be allowed to reapply through initial licensing application.
     
  • Applicants with a status reason of Revoked cannot reapply for a period of five years from the date the license was revoked.
     
  • All instances of phone number must be a valid 10 digit phone number (extensions are allowed).
     
  • Managing General Agent applicants must hold an active Insurance Producer with Property and Casualty lines of authority.
     
  • Surplus Lines applicants will be ‘mapped’ for Idaho non-residents. If the applicant holds an active Surplus Lines license in the resident state, the application will be allowed. If the applicant does not hold an active Surplus Lines license in the resident state, the application will be rejected.
     
  • Individual applicants must supply a residence and/or business address that is not in Idaho. If residence and business address are in Idaho, the transaction will be declined.
     
  • Residence and Business address fields must not contain a PO Box or PMB (Private Mailbox).
    • PO Box and Private Mailbox (PMB) are allowed in the mailing address field.
       
  • If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse.
