Applicant must be at least eighteen (18) years old or older as determined from the applicant's date of birth.
An affiliation is not required and the applicant may skip the "Affiliations" page on the uniform application.
Applicants for the variable line of authority (LOA) must supply a FINRA Central Registry Depository (CRD) number on the application. If you need to verify your CRD number you may use the Broker Search feature found on FINRA’s website
Applicant must not have another active resident state on the Producer Database.
Applicants must provide residence or business address in New Jersey. Residence address cannot be P.O. Box.
Applicant must not have an active non-resident license in New Jersey.
New Jersey will allow reinstatement of a license through NIPR's Resident License Application if submitted one (1) year after expiration date. If within one year, applicant must late renew using NIPR’s Resident Renewal Application.
Surplus lines applicants must currently hold or be applying for property or casualty Lines of authority.
Applicants cannot apply for a license amendment to an active license with an expiration date in the past.
Applicants must not have an inactive resident license in the state with an expiration date in the future.
Applicants applying for all major lines of authority and/or bail bonds must complete the required pre-licensing education and successfully pass the New Jersey producer licensing exam. No letter of clearance is required when changing your resident state if your resident state license status is available on the Producer Database. If you successfully pass the state licensing exam, your test results are automatically electronically submitted to the online system.
Applicants applying for all major lines of authority and/or bail bonds or any officer, director or owner of ten percent (10%) or more of a business entity seeking licensure must schedule and have their fingerprint impressions taken through the State's Live Scan electronic fingerprint process before applying online. Application cannot be processed until the results of Live Scan are received. Scheduling information for Live Scan and appropriate forms can be found at the Department's state website.
Public adjuster applicants will be deferred to the state for further review. The New Jersey Public Adjusters’ Licensing Act requires each licensee to maintain a $10,000 dollar bond from a surety insurer authorized in New Jersey. Proof of bond is required before license will be issued. The law also requires two (2) passport photos. Please provide proof of compliance for bond requirement and two (2) pass port photos to the state.
Applicants must answer, “Are you a disabled veteran?” If answer is yes, applicant must send proof to the state of Disabled Veteran status such as a recent letter from the Veteran’s Administration.
If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax. All other required documentation must be forwarded directly to the state.
