Applicant Can

Business Rules

Applicant must not have an active resident state license on PDB in any state.

Company/Independent Adjusters and Motor Vehicle Damage Appraiser applicants must provide a certified background check from their resident state.

In order for an applicant to apply for or reinstate through the No Home State initial application for an Individual Adjuster (Company/Independent Adjuster) the applicant MUST NOT have an active nonresident adjuster license on PDB (in any other state). Note: Public Adjusters will be treated as Producers.

Company/Independent and Motor Vehicle Damage Appraiser applicants must pass the required state exam for the new license or line of authority requested.

Applicants that have an inactive Rhode Island license that has expired within the past one year will be referred to no Home State Renewals to reinstate the license. Note: Any license that has a status reason other than Expired or that has been inactive more than 1 year can apply through No Home State initials as a new application.

Applicants that have LOAs that can be reinstated will not be allowed to apply for new LOAs until the license is reinstated.

The Emergency Adjuster and Emergency Motor Vehicle Damage Appraiser licenses are temporary licenses that are active for 120 days. The day after expiration date, applicant is eligible to apply for a new license through No home State initials and does not renew.

Emergency, Public, Company/ Independent Adjuster licenses cannot be actively held simultaneously or held with Emergency Motor Vehicle Damage Appraiser license.

Applicant for Motor Vehicle Damage Appraiser license class must provide an employment affidavit if not currently employed with an insurance company.

Applicant must provide either residence or business address that is not in the state of Rhode Island.

If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.
